trance festivals, USA
Hi all,
My friend from Russia is going to be in USA, Missouri (St.Louis) from 2 till 7 august, after she is going to North Caroline till 11 Augiust and finally stay in Chicago from 14 till 16 August. Probably someone knows, if any trance-festivals / open-airs are going to be organised these regions that time, she is very eager to see all that.

Will be very grateful for any information (or probably the names of large communities devoted to usa trance music ;-) ).

Thank you in advance!

CMU Senate
They are still not responding to us. I have the location and time of their next meeting however and am going to drop in and talk to them face to face. F&R might respond if I go talk to them, so I am.

Major progress has been made on finding contacts. Apparently there is a huge trance and techno crowd out there, they just aren't publized for their own reasons. However, it seems that most everything is word of mouth or posters. Made contact with a major organizer, will be following up soon and figuring out times and events where we can go. Info posted here to follow.

The Upstage, Cermony
Went: 1-18-04
With: CMU people
Where Pittsburgh
Event: Weekly Goth/Dark DB night called Cermony

Vibe: 2.5
Pretty good feeling becuase went with group of people from CMU. Going with friends makes it really fun. Lots of people sitting, not a place to go with a small group of people and expect to have as much fun. Lots of Smoke though.

Music: 2
Its ok music. You get the good techno and trance songs, plus a majority goth type and dark music. As the night got later it seemed that the music got more dark goth rockish and less techno.

Crowdedness: 3
At the begining, almost no one on the floor. Picked up very quickly and CMU people filled in. Many others later, but not too many. Could actually use some more people. Could have just been the night though.

The Crowd: 3.5
Points for costumes as many people dressed the part. Many people sitting, a couple of people using glow and photons, including me. Although, a lot more people not using them. The crowd didn't really have any problems with any forms of dance or anything at all. Looks like anything could go here.

Equipment: 2
Could have used better speakers and systems. A VENTALATION system would have been nice. Although neat little things here and there, like flaming pots and candles complete a cool scene.

Specials(like foam etc.): 2
One side of the dance floor is a mirror wall, pretty cool.

Accessablity(easy to get to): 4 Bus
Bus goes right to the door. Runs until around 1:30am ish. Good and easy to get to.

Line: 5
No line at all and you can come in and go out to get air (which is nesessary) with out having to pay again.

Price: $5 over 21, $6 under 21
FREE WATER!!! Really cool that the water is free and it is at the end of the bar. The barkeeps keep them filled and watch them so it is safe.

Overall: 3.5
The night was fun mainly becuase there were a lot of CMU people that were my friends and I enjoyed having fun and going clubing with them. Bring your own Glow, as it is not sold. If you are into Goth, this is a great place in pittsburgh for you. I personally like more trance and happy hardcore and less goth and smoke. Doesn't compare to DC though.

Rumors have it that it might close sometime soon. I hope not, seems like a good place
